Project Description

Department of State required refurbished aircraft. Carson Helicopters got the contract and required technicians for the surge. FTA was responsible for the structural modification, repairs, fabrication and SLEPT mods. Some of the larger jobs completed are more than 10 main gear box fittings removal and replacements, more than 20 main landing gear fittings. Also reskinned many areas of the aircrafts, including adding more windows and doublers.

Department of Defense required installation of General Electric hoist for search and rescue. FTA supplied avionics and structural technicians for the installation. FTA accomplished additional structural and avionic installations/repairs upon request from the customer during primary contract objective.

Project Description

United Nations contract required avionics upgrades and structural modifications and repairs. Many of the structural components were fabricated on site. Example; doublers, antenna boxes, modifying of instrument panel, and gained access to aircraft areas for installation. Structures also fabricated a 1 off instruments rack for aft HF equipment. Worked with onsite engineers to produce drawings for future aircraft. Avionics removed out dated wire bundles and installed new. Also, trouble shoot configuration issues.

Project Description

During overhaul of 14 each S61T model helicopters, DOS opted out of some modifications. FTA supplied hands on management of Carson Team. Reported daily updates to DOS and Carson Helicopters. FTA also provided heavy structural technician for major repairs.

Project Description

Erickson requested personnel for a surge of aircraft overhauls. FTA is supplying Avionics and Structural mechanics to assist. Heavy structural experience was required to remove and replace many fittings and skins on S64E helicopter. Also assisted with the building of Fire tanks. Avionics are completely rewiring S64E with glass cockpit conversion.

Also FTA is currently providing personnel for Erickson’s recent military contract on H53E.

Project Description

Provide technicians for inspection of 1 each S76C++, 1 each S76D helicopters. Aircrafts were submerged more than 16 inches into aircraft during the storm surge. Water preset in avionic bays, tail booms, and flight controls. FTA provided 3 technicians, Summit provided 1 general mechanic. Project inspection criteria was determined by 3 criteria; submerged, wind damage, and impact damage. Contract required the removal of all suspected water damaged avionic boxes and instruments. Removal of all submerged flight controls for inspection and damage assessment. Reported findings sent to Summit and further to Sikorsky.
